Dennis Ray Jones Obituary

Dennis Ray Jones was born on August 25th, 1959, to Raymond and Margie Jones. He weighed in at 1 pound 14 ounces and just 8 inches long at Harriman, in Roane County, Tennessee.
He grew up in Deer Lodge, Tennessee and later graduated from Sunbright High School in Morgan County. After he graduated, Dennis enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey on Whidbey Island. There he met and married his first wife Deborah and together they had two children, Brian, and Tyler.

Dennis served 20 years in the Navy and retired on Whidbey Island. After leaving the Navy he went to work at the American Legion where he met his second wife Tina. Together they managed the American Legion for 22 years.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Margie and his brothers, Randall, Sam, Rodney, and Nolan.

He is survived by his wife Tina, sons Brian and Tyler, sister Linda and sisters-in-law Melissa, Donna and Terry, along with many nieces and nephews.

Dennis loved going home to visit with family in Tennessee for family reunions. He also loved his reunions with his shipmates from VA52 Knight-Riders and as a lot of you know he played a mean game of pool. Dennis sure loved making people laugh and telling them jokes. He had a big heart and would do anything for a friend or fellow veteran. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed by everyone.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 12 noon (Eastern Time) in the Union Grove Cemetery. Celebration of life will immediately follow in the Deer Lodge Abner Ross Memorial Center
