Dewey Hays Obituary

Dewey Quitman Hays passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at at the age of 92 at his home in Trinity, Texas. He was born on July 31, 1928 in Overton County, Tennessee to Alonzo and Ollie Effie (Sells) Hays.

He worked as a coal miner in Tennessee, was a traveling salesman, and owned a series of service stations and H & H Rebuilding Co. in Muncie, Indiana. In his retirement years, he enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his wife Alene (King) Hays, the mother of his children Rillie (Threet) Hays, and siblings Fount Hays, Edith (Lacy) Abston, Norma (Lacy) Ford, Gilbert Lacy, Elbert Lacy, and Elvie Lacy.

He is survived by his children David Hayes and wife Emily, Jerry Hays and wife Susie, Tommy Hays and wife Cindy, Shirley (Hays) Bowden and husband Mike, Allan Hays and wife Carey, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Viewing at Mundy Funeral Home, 229 S Main St, Jamestown, TN 38556, beginning at 10:30 AM Saturday December 5th, 2020. Graveside service following at 12 Noon.
