Donald Lamar Padget died on Saturday, July 27 at Cookeville Regional Hospital, four days before his 90th birthday.
He was born July 31, 1934 in Indio, California. He graduated from Santa Clara University in 1956 and worked as a civil engineer for 16 years. In 1974, he graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and moved to Allardt, Tennessee to become the minister of the Allardt Presbyterian Church. He served there for 27 years. Don dedicated his life to many public service projects and was instrumental in establishing the Fentress County Food Bank.
Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann (Campbell) Padget, daughters Mary Eckwall of Savannah, Georgia, Julia Hurst of Allardt and son, Patrick Padget and wife Rebecca of Jamestown. He has 7 grandchildren: Benjamin Eckwall, Harvie and Mary Ellen Hurst, and Sophia, David, Samuel and Ezra Padget.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar James and Claire (McKinney) Padget, his son-in-law, Arvid Eckwall, and a grandson, Christopher Eckwall.
A visitation will be Tuesday, July 30th from 5 PM to 8 PM at Mundy’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 11 AM at the Allardt Presbyterian Church.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fentress County Food Bank, the Allardt Presbyterian Church or Manna House Ministries.
