Loving Wife, Mother and Friend

Joyce Norma Jean Kerst age 85 passed away peacefully on March 30,  2021 at home due to diabetes and congestive heart failure. She was born April 23, 1935 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Elbert and Dora Beaty.

She lived most of her life in Jamestown and raised 5 children Rhonda Campbell (Eddie), Rex Dishmon (Kathy), Teresa Choate (David), Ann Booth (Sonny), Connie Winningham (Tommy). After the untimely death of her first husband Shirley Dishman.  Joyce with the help of her oldest Daughter who led her to and introduced Mom to William Kerst and Married.  To that union came another 5 children, Mike Kerst (Mary), Kelvin Kerst (Sherri), Sharleen Riemenschneider (Brad), Carolyn Klimper (Preston), and Kristi Day (Bob).  Bill and Joyce were married for over 41 years and worked and lived in several locations.  Joyce was well traveled when she came home to Jamestown in 1994. Joyce’s family was the most important part of her life.  The family grew to 90. The loss of Teresa, Rex, Carolyn, Bob, and Erica were sad times in her life.

Joyce was proud of all her kids and grandkids.  At her death she had 20

Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandkids, and 3 Great Great Grandkids.  She claimed them all and enjoyed sharing with them.  She knew that they were all special but because of circumstances there were two that she felt extremely proud of and was special to her, Cayce and Michelah.

Joyce worked in a clothing factory for over 32 years and never complained about helping provide to support her family.  When Bill came into her life, she became his helper and companion. She enjoyed life and shared it with all.  Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jamestown and enjoyed helping with the activities of the church.

Joyce always said if you did not have anything good to say do not say anything.  She had several Bible verses that she liked but one that I remember is Ephesians 4:32 — “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Joyce is survived by Brothers, Clay Beaty (Bonnie), Louie Beaty (Yuovan), Gene Beaty (Joyce Ann), One sister Jewel Terry /(Ronnie). Deceased   Charles Beaty (Peggy) Eunice Hall (Jim) Edith King (Ike) Opel Crabtree (Wayne) Lowell. A host of Nieces, Cousins, and Nephews.
